In this room, it was important to strike a balance between comfort and a sense of space.

The room is small, so fully darkening it was not an option — that would make the space feel even smaller. At the same time, sunlight interfered with computer work, especially in spring when the room starts to warm up. The clients wanted a solution that would block harsh light and heat while still maintaining a sense of airiness and natural daylight.

It was also crucial that the window could still be opened and that the system was free of cords and chains, since the clients have a cat who loves to chew on them.

The Window Before the Makeover

A classic screen roller blind was chosen — battery-operated and installed on the wall above the window.
This solution preserved a sense of lightness, eliminated cords, and fully blocked sunlight

Why this choice was made:
Pleated blinds — unsuitable due to cords that could attract the cat.
Classic roller blinds with screen fabric — the optimal solution:
  • Easily automated
  • Do not interfere with opening the window, as they are mounted above the frame
  • Protect against heat and glare
  • Maintain natural light and the view outside

Result

The project was completed entirely remotely, without a designer visit.
The clients received an online consultation from Motiva, approved the fabric, and placed the order via email. They installed the blind and set up the motor themselves, following our instructions.

They chose a light grey screen fabric — Screen 5% Chalk Soft Grey. On the window, it appears slightly warmer, closer to beige — exactly the effect they wanted. Had they chosen a beige fabric, it would have looked too yellow in sunlight.

For convenience, two control buttons were installed — one for each desk. They were attached under the tabletop so they remain discreet but always within reach.
