We were approached by Angelina, a children’s massage specialist

To refresh her son’s room after he started school, Angelina decided to completely update the space — making it more modern, bright, and age-appropriate.

Previously, the room had dark blackout curtains that visually weighed down the interior and blocked natural light. A short floral sheer curtain looked outdated and didn’t match the new décor, making the room feel smaller and darker than it actually was.

She wanted the space to feel renewed — lighter, neater, and still able to provide proper darkness for sleeping.
The main goal was to create a modern, functional room where one could sleep, study, and play comfortably.

The old curtains blocked the radiator, preventing heat from spreading across the room in winter and causing condensation and moisture on the windows. This disrupted air circulation and made the space feel damp.

Angelina wanted the room to feel light, airy, and “breathable,” so that her son could comfortably do his homework during the day and fall asleep peacefully at night. At the same time, the design needed to be practical and safe for a child.

Task

Angelina invited Oksana, a textile decorator from Motiva with over 15 years of experience, to help transform the room.
On-site, they explored various options: fabric curtains, roller blinds, Venetian blinds, and pleated shades. In the end, they chose Motiva blackout pleated blinds — a light, modern, and safe solution for a child’s room.

Advantages:
  • Almost completely darken the room, ensuring restful sleep.
  • Do not block the radiator, keeping the room warm.
  • Child-safe, with no chains or cords.
  • Mounted directly on the window frame, preserving a sense of openness.

Solution

The room became bright, tidy, and modern.
The pleated shades made the interior feel cleaner, bringing a sense of order and harmony. Now, during the day, the shades can be easily raised to let in natural light, and in the evening, lowered for complete darkness.

Angelina’s account showcases the entire process — from the Motiva decorator’s visit and fabric selection to installation and the final result.
